Books to Read

If you were to ask me what my ideal day would consist of it would be by myself, on a beach, laying in the sun reading a book. I read on average, 20 books a month. Yes, you read that correctly – 20 books a month! How in the world do I fit that in you might ask? Well, when I can’t sleep I read. When I need to de-stress – I read. I rarely watch TV and I rarely watch movies more than once. When you love to do something, you make time for it.The main place I get my books is by being part of Kindle Unlimited. I pay $9.99 a month and I can read unlimited books!  Now you might say, “why don’t you just rent books from the library?” That would be fabulous if my favorites books were available there.

Self publication is growing exponentially, and it’s where I’ve found some of my favorite authors. I also like being able to have the books on my iphone so I can pull them up while I’m waiting for my kids soccer practice to end, at a doctor’s appointment, or find a free moment wherever I’m at.  My friends are always asking what books I’m reading or would recommend reading so I thought I’d share some of my favorite series with you if you’re looking to read something.

First my ultimate favorite is clean, and I repeat CLEAN romance. They just don’t seem to be making good chick flicks anymore. So when I want to de-stress I pick up a romance. They are quick reads and I love to loose myself in the stories for a few minutes or *cough*cough* hours. I love the Billionaire Marriage Broker Series by Lucy McConnell. But to be honest, I’ve loved ever single book that Lucy McConnell releases. I also loved the Billionaire Bride Pact Romance series by Cami Checketts.  And the last one I’ll share with you is the Love and Trust Trilogy by Shannon Guymon. These series are clean and fast romance stories that suck you in making you loose track of time, and not putting the books down until you’re finished. Honestly, you wont be disappointed with any books by these authors. And the great part is that they are all available on kindle unlimited! Score! I really have so many romance authors. If you’d like more suggestions just comment below and I’ll give you my HUGE list.

My next favorite is fantasy. Oh I have so many favorites in this genre. My husband was not a reader before marrying me, but I’ve converted him. I started out loving Terry Brooks, David Eddings and Robert Jordan when I was younger, but now how do I narrow the list down? Fantasy I either check out from the library or we just end up buying. So I’ll share with you some of the series we’ve loved so much that we’ve actually bought.

If you want a quick, enjoyable fast paced read then I would recommend The Lightning Thief Series by Rick Riordan (note the movie is nothing like the books – the books are so much better!). Next, the Seven Realms Series by Cinda Williams Chima – this series is amazing, kings, queens, princesses, magic, wizards, intrigue, suspense and romance. Ohhhhhh it’s so good! Got my father-in-law hooked on them as well. But I love all of Cinda Williams Chima’s books. If you like Harry Potter then you’ll like her Heir Chronicles series. Next, is the Beyonder’s series by Brandon Mull – these kids get swallowed by a hippo and transported to another world that they have to help save. Okay, reading that last sentence it sounds kinda weird, but click on the link to find out more – like I said, we bought all these series because we (hubby and I) loved them so much.

My last author I’ll share with you is probably, in my opinion, the most talented author I’ve come across. He weaves tales so well that you are transported in the pages. He’s truly talented – and that would be Brandon Sanderson. My favorite solo book of his is Warbreaker. Here’s it’s overview: “it’s the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the God King one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn’t like his job, and the immortal who’s still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.” Ugh, it’s soooooooo good! My next favorite from him is the Reckoner’s Series – it reminds me a little of X-men where people have super powers but the bad ones have taken over the world and those that are good, the Reckoners are trying to save them. Honestly you won’t be disappointed with any books by any of these authors.

Okay, my last genre is hmmm….how to best state it? Self-help, inspirational, informative books? I have friend that can see aura’s around people which I find very fascinating. If this interests you as well then you should check out A Little Bit of Auras: An Introduction to Energy Fields. Being in an MLM I’m always looking for motivational books and helps in order for me to succeed in my business. A great book that I found that talks about effective tools that can help us manage, adapt, and strike out ahead of the pack is Emotional Intelligence 2.0. If you haven’t heard about this next one I’d be surprised, it’s called Girl Wash Your Face – it teaches you about overcoming the lies that we tell ourselves and how to become the person we are meant to become.
